Read my lips.....
One President made a promise during the Presidential election and broke that promise 3 years later. He was defeated by Bill Clinton in the next election for breaking that very direct promise to the American people. Another candidate promised - "I can make a firm pledge, under my plan, no family making less than $250,000 a year will see any form of tax increase. Not your income tax, not your payroll tax, not your capital gains taxes, not any of your taxes." Barack Obama during the General Election. Will this President face the same result if he, and he will, raises taxes on the middle class. The wealthy do not make enough to pay for these out of control deficits......
Why do we honor Tim Russert and Tony Snow at America Fighting Back? These two Gentlemen epitomize exactly what we are striving for. Tim Russert came from a Liberal background but his political affiliation was never apparent in either his questioning on Meet the Press or his analyzing the elections on NBC. On Meet the Press every Sunday he asked very tough questions of both sides. He demonstrated what we wish every professional that reports on or analyzes our political process would strive to accomplish. Tony Snow was unashamed of his conservative roots. Whether it was on Fox News, his radio show or as the Press Secretary for the President he defended his beliefs and the direction that he thought this country should go. One thing Tony Snow never did was disparage those who had opposing views. He would debate but not resort to calling you names or vilifying you. Those on the hard left hated him because of that. Tim Russert and Tony Snow will be missed. Our country is worse off because of their passing. Our prayers are with both families: Tim's wife Maureen, their son Luke and of course "Big Russ'; Tony's wife Jill and their 3 children Kendall, Robbie and Kristi.
We hope, no we demand, that those who are now responsible for trying to replace these two great men continue on with their passion of a political system that answers tough questions, responds to the voters and refuses to get into the gutter with the hard right and hard left.
